Don't Ask, Don't Tell... Citizenship?

Fact:
Painesville, OH (Ohio). The city that likes illegal immigrants. At least that's the way At-Large Council Member, Abbey DelaMotte, portrayed the city in her Fox News interview.

She says the city will give illegal immigrants loans, they can buy homes, get their utilities, and anything else they want... using a Mexican ID. They will never be questioned about their legal status, as the city has adopted a "don't ask, don't tell policy" regarding citizenship. DelaMotte went on to say the city has no reason to question citizenship, unless a law was broken.

May 15, 2006 news article.

Opinion:
Maybe it's just me, but...
If someone is asking for money to buy a home... you want to see their ID, right? Well, if they give you a Mexican (or other foreign origin) ID, don't you wonder why they didn't come up with a U.S. ID? Stay with me...

I'm going to bet: A U.S. ID wasn't used, because the person is not a U.S. citizen. And if no other papers were shown... they're probably an illegal immigrant. The key word here is: illegal. That means a law has been broken (unless you're in Painesville, OH).

Don't blame me. I didn't say it. Abbey DelaMotte said it at about 1:15 PM EST, on Fox News. If you want to ask her to clarify her statements, or dispute what I have stated here: call or email her - her info is noted below.

Runnin' On Empty

No. Not another gassy post. It's just that I haven't slept today. I've had a hard time sleeping lately.

I woke up yesterday at about 4pm (6 hrs of sleep). I worked all night. I have to work tonight, too. So it looks like I won't be sleeping until about 8am - tomorrow morning. I hope this helps to reset my sleep pattern.

I think my big sleep problem has been a combination of anger, stress, and depression. This has caused my mind to be running so fast, there's no way I could sleep. I think I need to get my shit straight. I'm just not sure how to do that.

Exxon/Mobil Alternatives

O.K.. There's a good bit of talk about a boycott of Exxon/Mobil stations, oil, and convenience stores. The thing about that is, they own, supply, or franchise so much that it's hard to tell where to buy - or not buy - your gas.

It's easy to keep these names in mind: ExxonMobil, Exxon, Esso, Speedpass, Mobil Delvac, Mobil, On the Run, Mobil 1.

But the names aren't always a strong sign of who the gasoline supplier is. So, use their own store locator. Click the link below, to find an Exxon / Mobil gas station you can avoid.

I'm not sure, but I think these guys don't sell Exxon/Mobil: Agway, Amoco (BP), Chevron, Citgo, Coastal, Conoco, E-Z Stop, Fina, Gull, Gulf Oil, Hess, Horizon, Ideal, Imperial (Joy), Kenjo, Keystop, Marathon, Murphy USA, Phillips 66, Pilot, Quiktrip, 7-Eleven, Shell, Speedway SuperAmerica, Sheetz, Sunglo, Sunoco, Starvin' Marvin's, Texaco, Ultramar, Union 76, Valero (Diamond Shamrock), Wawa, Weigle's.

What other gas (filling) stations are there?

In a State of Pain

Thursday night, at work, I was lifting a very light box, and a sudden twinge of pain shot from my lower-back to my left knee. I'm well aware of company policies regarding injuries, so I waited a moment - to see if it would go away - then I called my manager. He spoke to me like I hurt myself on purpose.

After filling out the paper work, my manager asked if I needed to go to the doctor, and if I would have gone to the doctor if the accident happened at home. Well, I didn't want to go to the doctor (the only doctor available at that time of morning is the ER), but I knew I had better go - just to make sure I was covered in the event of later complications.

I could barely stand the pain of sitting, so I stood in the ER for about 4 hours (in one place). I have been taking my muscle relaxers and pain killers, but it seems the pain wants to travel down my left leg. Ahh... Not as young as I once was.

My wife says it's 3rd shift that's doing this to me. I say it's just my luck.
As usual, the drugs make me a bit more opinionated. Or maybe they just make me want to express myself more. At any rate, I'm pissed about a great many things right now. Perhaps I'll share them in the future, but I'm tired of bitching. My next few posts will be bitch-session-free.

Oh yeah - I had two interviews. Not enough $$. Turned them down.
